The Queanbeyan Enterprise Centre Inc. trading as the Southern Region BEC is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association run by a Board of Management. The day to day management of the centre is by the Executive Officer.

Paul is a retired accountant with over forty years experience in both public and private sectors.
Jean McIntyre BCA (Bachelor of Creative Arts), Grad. Dip. Mktg
Jean’s interests include business development through strategic management to improve sales and service outcomes. She is an IT contractor with expertise in technical and change management writing. She was formerly a self-employed Marketing Consultant (Marketing Angels), Manager of Electrogroup Trade Training Centre, Managing Director of Sponsors Select, and a casual lecturer at the CIT in Managing Risk, Marketing, and Management.
Jean holds a Graduate Diploma in Marketing (2006) and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Writing 1988). She has been a Board Member of the Exhibition Park Corporation, Tandem Respite Inc. and has been a volunteer with the Canberra Business Council Small Business Taskforce, Lifeline and Snowy Hydro Southcare, member of Business Tuggeranong and was formerly the President of the Chamber of Women in Business.
Jean received the Chamber of Women in Business Award for Outstanding Community Spirit. She is a keen lawn bowler.
Terry Oakes-Ash (FAICD, FIQ) is Chairman of Youth Radio 92.5 FM, The Southern Highlands Red Shield Appeal, Oxley Partners, a Director of Southern Region BEC and a Committee Member of RDASI. He was the CEO for ten years of Boral Resources Ltd and owner of a small business, Oakes-Ash International, for 15 years. Now retired, he is spending his time as a community volunteer on the Council Economic Development, Tourism and Events Committee. He has served on many Boards during his corporate days at Boral and many related business committees.
Together with his wife Joy and his three daughters migrated to Australia in early March 1970, and they all became Australian Citizens in December 1987. During the course of his business career Terry has travelled extensively through USA, Europe, NZ, China and South East Asia.
His passion is to assist the youth of the Southern Highlands in their endeavours to obtain a broad ranging education, the need for on-the-job training when entering the work force and for the provision of help through mentoring and coaching.
Michael Salkeld FCPA, FAIM
Michael has been a member of the Queanbeyan Enterprise Centre Inc Board since 2003. He has formal qualifications in accounting (FCPA), training and assessment, company directorship, business facilitation and project management.
Michael has extensive management experience at senior levels in both public and private sectors including ten years providing business advisory services to intending and existing business operators. He has held positions of Senior Deputy Marshal of the High Court of Australia and later First Assistant Secretary of the Department of the House of Representatives.
He has been the CEO of a not for profit public company that operated as a job network member, group training employer of apprentices and trainees, ISP, RTO and business advisory service.
Michael currently serves on the Boards of a number of Charities.
Ron Thompson AAIDC, F FIN
Ron Thompson was born in Sydney and was educated in Newcastle and has been a resident of Canberra since 1993.
Employed by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia between 1967 and 1995 in various capacities including Chief Manager Corporate Banking Services (ACT and Southern NSW), Relationship Executive for Government and Corporate Business Enterprises, Head of Futures Broking (Sydney), Senior Manager of Capital Markets and Treasury Dealing (Sydney), Manager of Corporate and International Banking (London, UK), Manager of Australian Financial and Migrant Information Services (London). During this period he also served as an independent elected director of the Sydney Futures Exchange Ltd.
In 1995 Ron joined Queanbeyan based Electro Optic Systems Pty Limited as Chief Operating Office retiring as Group General Manager in 2012. He has been a Board member of the Southern Region BEC, (formerly QBEC) since 2002.
