The greatest bit of advice I have been given by another parent and which I like to give to others is:

‘To keep a poker face’.
When you are being told a story, no matter how shocking or disturbing it is don’t react. Even if your stomach is doing somersaults keep that composed nonchalant look on your face. You will get more out of the child by not judging, reacting, just smile and don’t overreact.

A personal fact no one would ever guess about me is:

My love of the colour pink. Pink makes me smile on the inside, it brightens my day and lifts my spirits. If I’m in a staff meeting and someone gets the pink cup before me, I’m secretly wishing they spill their tea. No joking! I’m not that evil but I do get bad pink envy.

If I could choose a fictional place to visit it would be:

Neverland. Neverland is a fictional island, it is an imaginary faraway place, where Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys and other mythical creatures and beings live. I like the idea of never growing up and ceasing to age. What fun to have no responsibilities, being able to fly and talk nonsense, even for just a little while.
