Pathways Support is a free service provided by the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre (SRBEC) under the Regional VET Pathways initiative, funded and supported by the NSW Department of Industry, Skills and Regional Development. It provides free support to young people, aged between 15 – 19, currently not enrolled in school or in the work force, to make an effective transition into further education or employment opportunities.
Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre provides case management that is tailored to each individual client under this program. We coordinate, negotiate, advise, mentor and encourage young people to provide them with the highest possible chance of success, including; identifying existing skills and career interests, as well as any barriers to engaging in education, training or employment. We also work with other services including; health, housing, welfare, youth centres, indigenous or cultural groups, community services and refer young people as needed.
Our focus is on building confidence and boosting career aspirations while creating an understanding of real needs and expectations within the workplace. An example of what we do includes; create plans and set goals for transitioning into work or study, teach how to create professional resumes, cover letters and apply for jobs, coach in preparing for interviews and interview skills, assist with finding and enrolling into relevant courses & assist with obtaining identification documents, tax file number, bank account, learner or provisional licence etc.
You can expect to achieve; employment, learn new life skills, be enrolled in further education &/or obtain a pathway for your chosen career or further studies.
